Road 13 Wine Pairings with Steak and demi-glace

Valentine’s Day is always a bit of an issue for David and I, we are both quite busy these days – he with their new Real Estate Company and me with City Council which is having an inordinate number of meetings lately with both budget and the process required for the hiring a new CAO, which is exciting for Vernon. So … I knew that we were going to be short of time. After hearing on CBC that the average spent on Valentines by Americans (I think) was 129.00 I knew I wasn’t going to be in that category but thought I could put together one of David’s favourite meals – Steak with a nice demi-glace, wine soaked mushrooms, Caesar Salad and garlic mashed potatoes – we paired it with a Road 13, 2007 Fifth Element,  it was sumptuous! The wine really opened up as we enjoyed our meal and with a few candles for atmosphere – it was as romantic as any location we have been to – best part – great to be in our own home.
